The Raluy family Circus
After presenting its show “Kirko” in Aragon, La Rioja, the Basque Country, and Castilla y Leon, Rosa Raluy returns to Catalonia to premiere her new show “AMUZA,” and as tradition dictates, it will be at the Costa Brava. Palafrugell will once again host the Historic Raluy Circus during August, witnessing many new features, including the return of Portuguese comic Sandro Roque to the Historic Raluy’s artistic lineup. Sandro, who has just completed a series of tours in the United Kingdom and France, returns after 8 seasons to reunite with Raluy’s loyal audience and captivate new spectators.
Among the novelties, we will also enjoy the Acrobatic Skaters Skating Ray, the Boleadoras of the Saly’s Brothers (awarded at the Monte Carlo Circus Festival), the Aerial Straps of sisters Kimberley and Jillian Raluy, the contortionist Jesabel, and much more. Under the artistic direction of Rosa Raluy, the company begins a new tour of Catalonia.
Founded in 1972 by Carlos Raluy Tomás, the Raluy Circus has evolved from an ambitious project to become one of the most prominent circus companies worldwide. Throughout its trajectory, the Raluy Circus has been awarded prestigious recognitions such as the National Circus Award in 1996, the Max Award from SGAE, the Agora Award, the City of Barcelona Award, and the Creu de Sant Jordi, among others.
These achievements have cemented the Raluy Circus’s reputation as synonymous with circus quality on the Spanish cultural scene, captivating hundreds of thousands of spectators and leaving a lasting mark on the collective imagination. The circus’s facilities are unique in Europe, housing an invaluable historical heritage acquired and restored over 50 years.
Original circus wagons, carriages, and trucks dating from different eras between 1850 and 1950 create the setting for one of the most beautiful tents in the world. The interior of the hall, characterized by noble materials such as wood, bronze, and velvet, features hand-painted frescoes, offering an environment comparable to ancient European theaters. Various spaces host exhibitions of posters, photographs, brochures, and period scenic material. These characteristics have allowed the Historic Raluy Circus to exhibit its facilities and shows in emblematic places such as the Moll de la Fusta, in the heart of Barcelona.
Entering the grounds of the Historic Raluy Circus translates into an unforgettable and enriching experience, culminating in a surprising and emotional show. Don’t miss it!
