The Bolshoi has a permanent company of several hundred highly qualified artists: acrobats, gymnasts, horse riders, jugglers, clowns, musicians, and specialized technicians. Many of them have trained at the best circus art schools in Russia and have won international awards at festivals such as Monte Carlo and the Demain World Circus Festival in Paris. Some prominent Bolshoi artists have participated in international tours under the name of "Great Russian Circus," visiting countries such as Peru, Mexico, Argentina, France, and Japan. These include Troupe Prilepin, specializing in aerial and synchronized acrobatics; the clown Oksana Awkward, known for its visual and theatrical humor; and the impressive Pronin family swings, which have taken vertigo to the limit.
In recent years, the circus management—led by figures such as Edgard and Askold Zapashny—has implemented a comprehensive renovation of the facilities, including technical improvements, new sets, and a more contemporary approach to circus dramaturgy. New original productions have been created, and the prestigious "Idol" festival, which brings together the best of the world's circus scene in Moscow, has been launched. Since 2018, the circus has been directly managed by the Moscow City Council, ensuring institutional stability and continued investment in infrastructure.
