The 75th anniversary of the Raluy Historic Circus: A tribute to the Mediterranean and the circus spirit
" A Sea of Illusions " is a show that pays tribute to the Mediterranean , a source of inspiration and a meeting point for civilizations. Similarly, the spectacle reflects the essence of the circus as a point of connection between different generations of artists, where experience blends with innovation. This production is designed to captivate all types of audiences, from the youngest to the oldest, offering an immersive and surprising performance.
The show incorporates a wide variety of circus disciplines, including acrobatics, juggling, magic, performance poetry, and trapeze acts , as well as the participation of sea lions, adding a special touch to the performance. Artistic direction, by Joan Montanyès "Monti ," has highlighted the synergy between the Circo Raluy Histórico and Monti & Cia, emphasizing the union between the tradition of one of Spain's oldest circuses and the renewed energy of the new artists.
The circus in Spain: between challenge and evolution
Since its founding, the Circo Raluy Histórico has been a benchmark of classic circus, standing out for its retro style and its circus-museum concept . However, the evolution of the performing arts and changes in cultural consumption habits have presented new challenges for the circus sector.
Joan Montanyès "Monti" has pointed out that, despite Spain's rich circus tradition , this art form remains undervalued compared to other performing arts. According to the circus director, Carles Raluy, word of mouth plays a crucial role in audience attendance, as the quality of the show is the primary factor in attracting spectators.
